Cash App Payment Link: How to Create and Share One (2026)
Cash App's new payment links, your $Cashtag link and a QR code: which to use, how to make each one, what they cost, and the terms that matter if you are paid for work.
Since February 2026, Cash App lets you create a payment link from the Request screen: enter an amount and note, then choose Share link instead of a recipient. The link opens a payment with the amount and note filled in, can be paid by several people, and lets people without Cash App pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay if they are US adults. Every account also has a $Cashtag link, cash.app/$yourname, which suits a bio or website but stops working if you change your $Cashtag. Personal accounts are for non-commercial payments under Cash App's terms, so sellers should use a Business account at 2.6% + $0.15 per payment or the Earn in P2P pilot. Cash App is US-only since leaving the UK in 2024.
- Tap $, enter an amount, tap Request, add a note and choose Share link to create a reusable payment link.
- People without Cash App can pay a payment link with Apple Pay or Google Pay if they are US residents aged 18 or over.
- Your $Cashtag link is cash.app/$yourname; changing your $Cashtag, allowed only twice, breaks old links and QR codes.
- Cash App's terms reserve personal accounts for non-commercial payments; a Business account costs 2.6% + $0.15 per payment.
- Check that links use exactly cash.app or cash.me, and confirm payments in your activity, never from a screenshot.
To create a Cash App payment link, open Cash App, tap the $ tab, enter an amount, tap Request, add a note, and choose Share link instead of adding a recipient. Paste the link into a text, DM or email. The payer sees your amount and note already filled in. Several people can pay the same link, and people without Cash App can pay it with Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Cash App added these payment links in February 2026. Every account also has a standing $Cashtag link, cash.app/$yourname, which is the one to put in a bio or on a sign.
Payment link vs $Cashtag link vs QR code
"Cash App link" can mean three different things. Pick the one that fits where you are sharing it.
| Payment link | $Cashtag link | QR code of your $Cashtag link | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Looks like | A link made from a request | cash.app/$yourname | A printed or on-screen code |
| Amount | Pre-filled, with your note | Payer enters it | Payer enters it |
| People without Cash App can pay | Yes, with Apple Pay or Google Pay | May be asked to sign up | May be asked to sign up |
| Best for | A bill split, invoice or deposit in a chat | Bio, website, email signature | Counter, stall, event table |
How to create a Cash App payment link
- Open Cash App and tap the $ (Payment) tab.
- Enter the amount. The minimum is $1 (Cash App).
- Tap Request and add a note, such as "Deposit for Saturday session".
- Choose Share link rather than adding a recipient.
- Paste the link wherever you are talking to the payer.
Cash App built the feature for group costs: one link can go to a whole group chat for a dinner, rent or a shared gift, and everyone pays it without you chasing them one by one (Cash App, Payments Dive). Links work from personal and business accounts. If Share link has moved in your version of the app, look where you would normally pick a contact.
How to find your $Cashtag link
Your $Cashtag is the name you chose when you set up Cash App. Choosing it automatically created a link at https://cash.app/$yourcashtag where "friends, family, and customers can make payments to you" (Cash App help). Tap your profile icon to see your $Cashtag and copy the link.
A $Cashtag link has no amount attached, so it suits places where anyone might pay you any amount: your Instagram bio, your website, the footer of an invoice. Links on cash.me also belong to Cash App, which still uses that older domain.
Think twice before changing your $Cashtag. Cash App lets you change it only twice, and old $Cashtags become inactive so nobody else can claim them (help). That keeps you safe from impersonation, but every old link, printed flyer and QR code that used the previous $Cashtag stops working. You can switch back to a previous one if you need to.
How to make a Cash App QR code for printing
Cash App can show a QR code in the app, but where it sits changes between versions. For anything you print, such as a counter sign, a market stall card or an event table tent, make a static QR code of your cash.app/$yourcashtag link with any QR code generator. A static code encodes the link directly, so it never depends on a subscription (do QR codes expire?). Test it with two or three phones before printing, and remember it stops working if you change your $Cashtag.
Can people without Cash App pay your link?
Yes, if you send a payment link. In Cash App's words, when you request money from someone who does not have the app, "they'll be able to pay you through a payment link with Apple Pay or Google Pay" (Cash App). Payers without an account must be US residents aged 18 or over. They pay no fee unless they use a credit card through Apple Pay or Google Pay, and any fee is shown before they confirm (terms).
A plain cash.app/$cashtag link does not document that route, so a payer without Cash App may be asked to sign up. If many of your customers do not use Cash App, send them a payment link or offer a card option alongside it.
Cash App is US-only. It closed its UK service in September 2024 (Yahoo Finance), so international customers need a second way to pay you.

Sources: sending and receiving, business fees, cash-out speeds, checked September 2026. Confirm current fees on Cash App's pages before you rely on them.
Limits depend on whether you have verified your identity. Until you do, you can receive up to $1,000 in any 30-day period (account limits). Verification asks for your legal name, date of birth and the last four digits of your SSN or ITIN (ID verification), and your current limits are in the Limits section of your settings.
Using a Cash App link to get paid for work
Cash App's terms of service describe the personal peer-to-peer service as being for "personal, non-commercial purposes". Its business FAQ adds that personal accounts "should not be used to accept Cash App Business payments", meaning payments for goods or services. The terms for no-account payers say the same.
So if you sell anything (sessions, haircuts, cakes, commissions), there are two compliant options:
- A Cash App Business account. It costs 2.6% + $0.15 per payment received and keeps your work income separate from personal transfers.
- Earn in P2P, if you are offered it. Cash App's terms now let eligible sole proprietors take goods-and-services payments on a personal account through a pilot called Earn in P2P. Reported in September 2026, it charges no fee on eligible payments and lets you tag payers as customers and track income (PYMNTS). Check whether it appears in your app.
Cash App warns that "most payments are instant and usually cannot be canceled" (scams help). Some buyers prefer a card or PayPal for purchases for that reason, so offer one next to Cash App.
On taxes, Cash App sends a Form 1099-K to business accounts, and for Earn in P2P earnings, once payments pass the IRS threshold of more than $20,000 and more than 200 transactions in a year. You must report business income whether or not you get the form.
How to tell a real Cash App link from a fake
- The domain is exactly
cash.app, or the oldercash.me. Look-alikes such ascash-app.comorcash.app.pay-help.comare not Cash App. - The link opens in Cash App or on Cash App's own site and shows the $Cashtag you expect.
- Confirm a payment in your Cash App activity, never from a screenshot someone sends you.
- Cash App never asks for your sign-in code or PIN, or for a "test" payment (phishing help).
Cash App had 59 million monthly transacting actives in June 2026 (Block, Q2 2026), so plenty of your customers will already have it, and so will the people trying to copy it.
Where to put your Cash App link
The $Cashtag link goes wherever customers already look for you: your Instagram or TikTok bio, your website, your email signature and the bottom of invoices. Payment links go into a chat, with one person or a group, when you know the amount.
If Cash App is one of several ways you get paid, a link-in-bio page keeps them together in one place. Whooshly's free link-in-bio page takes your $Cashtag and builds a Cash App button that can only open cash.app. Next to it you can add PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, a Stripe Payment Link ("Pay by card") and 23 other methods, and see how many taps each one gets. The payments go straight to your accounts; Whooshly takes no cut.
