Free Chrome extension

The free Whooshly Chrome extension: shorten links, make QR codes, build UTMs

A QR code generator, URL shortener, UTM builder and barcode generator, one click away in your toolbar. The QR, UTM and barcode tools are free forever with no account – they run on your device and send nothing anywhere.

Add to Chrome – free Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc & Opera

Four tools, one click

Click the Whooshly icon on any page and the popup opens on whichever tool you need. Everything works on the page you're already looking at, so there's nothing to copy and paste.

Free QR code generator

Turn the page you're on into a QR code in one click. Restyle the colours, then copy it to your clipboard or download a crisp PNG or SVG. It's generated on your device, so it works offline and nothing is uploaded.

No account. No limits.

Free URL shortener

Shorten the current page to a short whshly.co link that lands in your dashboard, where you can track clicks and scans and re-point the destination after you've shared it.

Free account required.

Free UTM builder

Tag any link with source, medium and campaign and watch the tagged URL build live as you type, then copy it. Built entirely in the popup – no round trip, no saved data.

No account. No limits.

Free barcode generator

Need a Code 128 barcode instead of a QR? The More tab renders one for the current page and downloads it as a PNG. Also fully client-side.

No account. No limits.

It doesn't watch you

Most "free" browser tools are paid for with your data. This one isn't – there's nothing to collect, because the tools that matter never leave your machine.

No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixels – the extension collects no usage data at all.
The QR, UTM and barcode tools make zero network requests. They run entirely in your browser.
It never reads your browsing history or the content of the pages you visit.
It only ever sees a URL when you explicitly act on it – clicking the toolbar icon or a right-click item.
It stores nothing on your device. The only data that leaves your browser is a URL you choose to shorten.

Full detail lives in the privacy policy.

Right-click anything

Right-click a link, a selected URL, or the page background and pick Shorten with Whooshly or QR code with Whooshly. The popup opens with that target already loaded, so a link you spotted mid-scroll becomes a short link or a QR without leaving the page.

The Whooshly Chrome extension – FAQ

Is the Whooshly Chrome extension free?

Yes. The QR code generator, UTM builder and barcode generator are free with no account, no sign-up and no limits, because they run entirely in your browser and cost us nothing to serve. Shortening a link needs a free Whooshly account so the link has somewhere to live and can be tracked.

Is there a free QR code generator Chrome extension that works without an account?

This one. Click the Whooshly toolbar icon on any page and a QR code for it renders instantly – restyle it, copy it, or download a PNG or SVG. It's generated on-device, so it needs no account and no internet connection, and the QR never touches a server.

Does the extension track my browsing?

No. It has no analytics, no telemetry and no tracking of any kind, and it stores nothing on your device. It cannot read your browsing history or page content. It only sees the URL of a page or link at the moment you act on it, and the only thing ever sent to us is a URL you deliberately choose to shorten.

What permissions does it need, and why?

Three, all narrow: activeTab reads the current tab's URL only when you click the icon or a right-click item; contextMenus adds the "Shorten with Whooshly" / "QR code with Whooshly" entries; and clipboardWrite copies a link or QR when you tap Copy. It requests access to no websites other than Whooshly's own domains.

Does it work in Edge, Brave, Arc, or Opera?

Yes. Those are Chromium browsers, so they install the extension straight from the Chrome Web Store and everything behaves the same. A Firefox build is on the roadmap.

Can I shorten a link by right-clicking it?

Yes. Right-click any link, any selected URL, or the page background and choose "Shorten with Whooshly" or "QR code with Whooshly". Note that browsers don't let extensions add items to the address bar's right-click menu – use the toolbar icon for the page you're on.

Put it in your toolbar.

Free QR codes, UTM links and barcodes with no account – and one-click short links when you want them.
