Share buttons that send tracked short links.
Every share from your site goes out as a short link with UTM tags for its network, the way X, LinkedIn and YouTube do it. You see which pages get shared, where, and what those shares bring back.
The big platforms already shorten every share.
They do it to know what gets shared and where the clicks come from. Now your share buttons can do the same for your pages.
t.coXEvery link posted on X is wrapped in a t.co link.
lnkd.inLinkedInLinks in LinkedIn posts are shortened to lnkd.in.
youtu.beYouTubeYouTube's Share button hands you a youtu.be link.
a.coAmazonAmazon's Share button gives you an a.co link.
Your site, with the share kit:
whshly.co/… or go.yourbrand.com/…A real link from our own article.
Someone shared our quishing guide on LinkedIn. This is the link the button made, and where it sends people:
How to Tell if a QR Code Is Safe Before You Scan
whooshly.coShares stop disappearing into Direct.
Links pasted into WhatsApp, Slack, email and most apps arrive without a referrer, so analytics files the visit as Direct. A tagged short link names the source every time. Illustration:
Plain share button
| Source / medium | Landing page |
|---|---|
| (direct) / (none) | /blog/quishing |
| (direct) / (none) | /pricing |
| (direct) / (none) | /blog/quishing |
With the share kit
| Source / medium | Landing page |
|---|---|
| linkedin / social | /blog/quishing |
| whatsapp / social | /pricing |
| copy-link / referral | /blog/quishing |
Every page, every network, shares and clicks back.
Settings → Share kit lists each page by network, with a CSV export. Example rows:
| Page | Network | Shares | Clicks back |
|---|---|---|---|
| /pricing | 42 | 318 | |
| /blog/launch-checklist | 27 | 164 | |
| /pricing | Copy link | 19 | 96 |
| /customers/acme | X | 8 | 31 |

Do I need an account?
No. Paste the script and the buttons work straight away, with short links on whshly.co. Claim the site with a free account to see what was shared and to keep the links.
Does it set cookies or track visitors?
No cookies and nothing about the visitor. When someone shares, the button asks for a short link for that page and that network, and that's all it sends.
What if Whooshly is slow or down?
The button waits at most a moment, then shares the plain page address with the same UTM tags. Sharing never breaks, and your analytics still get the source.
LinkedIn hides the link in the preview card. Does a short link still help?
Yes. The card hides the address, but the click still goes through the short link, so the visit arrives tagged utm_source=linkedin instead of Direct.
Is this an AddThis replacement?
It does the job AddThis did, share buttons on any site, and adds a tracked short link for every share. Oracle terminated AddThis on May 31, 2023 and asked sites to remove its code, so any page still loading it needs new buttons. The free share-button checker will tell you whether yours do.
Can I keep my own share buttons?
Yes. Add data-whooshly-share="linkedin" (or x, facebook, email, copy) to each button and the script takes over the click. Buttons you mark up this way never show the Whooshly icon.
Can I see who shares, and credit them?
Yes. Pass an id you choose, like a customer number or partner code, as data-sharer on the buttons. Each sharer gets their own short link, the visit arrives with shared_by=
Can the links use my own domain?
Yes, with Core ($35 once): pick your domain, like go.yourbrand.com, and the Whooshly icon goes away. Links you already shared keep working.
